To aid and guide you in the process of recovery and well being a Certified Hand Therapist is on site. A Certified Hand Therapist (CHT) is an Occupational Therapist (or Physical Therapist) that has a minimum of five years of clinical experience, including 4,000 hours or more in direct practice in hand therapy. In addition, the Certified Hand Therapist has successfully passed a comprehensive test of advanced clinical skills and theory in upper extremity (arm) rehabilitation. Because of changes in the profession, every CHT is required to demonstrate continued professional development and competency by re-certifying every five years.

Life is a team sport, and so is the practice of medicine. Very few sub-specialties in medicine require the level of coordination between services as does hand surgery. We are very fortunate to have a Certified Hand Therapist on site to help deliver personalized and complete care to you. Every case and every person is different. The Hand Therapists are trained to recognize this, and adapt accordingly to work with you and your surgeon to keep your recovery on track.

Stretching exercises, strengthening exercises, splinting, desensitization exercises, scar treatment, recovery milestones: all part of their expertise, the Hand Therapist will help you maximize your recovery.
